1892 - Rochester Hotel built; GOIV refers to it as "a newer establishment"
1892 - Walt Whitman dies on March 26, 1892 - GOIV hears the news in Durango
1893 - GOIV attends the groundbreaking of the Music Concourse in San Francisco on August 24. [1]
1893 - Nathan Strauss commits suicide on October 25 and dies at Chambers Street Hospital at 12:12 P.M.[2][3]
